Machineart Designs a New Kind of Golf Shoe

October 31st, 2008

McKenzie Golf., of Redding, CT introduces LiteSpikes, a unique golf overshoe designed by Machineart Industrial Design. LiteSpikes are lightweight, compact, portable, low cost, and designed to fit over any shoe or sneaker to make it possible to play golf when traveling without a normal golf shoe, and to reduce the cost of entry to the game for a new player.

“When planning the features of the product with the partners of McKenzie Golf, we defined four design goals”, said Andrew Serbinski, Principal of Machineart: ” 1) Design it in a material that will stretch comfortably over 3 or more shoe sizes to keep a minimum number of sizes in inventory; 2) Design a unique tread pattern for the outside and inside foot enabling a specific feel and level of grip appropriate to each foot throughout the range of the golf swing; and 3) Design symmetrical uppers so they can be worn on either the left or right feet to accomodate both left and right-handed players; and 4) Design it to appeal to golf fashion traditionalists while providing a choice of color combinations that appeal to younger tastes.”

LiteSpike Features:

* SMART TREAD™, the distinct inside and outside foot tread design, is patent pending and designed for optimum traction & feel.
* Designed for portability: At 8 oz. per overshoe, they are compact and lightweight.
* Made in Thermoplastic Polyurethane. TPU repels the elements, is tear resistant and machine washable.
* Herringbone insole design, combined with front, back, and side stabilizers, increase grip with the undershoe.
* Interchangeable left to right for left or right handed players.
* Comes with a machine washable, quick drying carry bag.

Priced at $29.99, LiteSpikes are affordable, fun to wear, and can be purchased at www.mckenziegolfusa.com and select retail shops.
